We ask all those wanting to give up to see our assistant practitioner to discuss what support is best for you. This may include nicotine replacement therapy or medication.

Flu Vaccines are available October to March each year all patients that are aged 65 and over, or that have a long term medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease.
Also Seasonal COVID Vaccines are available at various times of the year, usually Spring and Autumn time.
Bowel Cancer Screening
Bowel cancer is a general term for cancer that begins in the large bowel. Depending on where the cancer starts, bowel cancer is sometimes called colon cancer or rectal cancer. Screening is carried out by taking a small stool sample and testing it for the presence of blood (faecal occult blood test).
Breast Screening
Breast screening for patients between the ages of 50 and 70 is done at Pendleton Gateway. You will be invited to attend the unit once every three years. The location of Pendleton Gateway along with facilities available can be found here.
Cervical Smears
All patients with a cervix aged between 25 and 50 should have a cervical smear test every three years, and between 50 and 65 every 5 years. Patients will get a letter reminding them when their smear test is due. You should preferably make your appointment to see the practice nurse mid-cycle (14 days after the first day of your period). Patients who have just had a baby should wait 3 months after delivery before having a smear.
Chlamydia Screening
Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the UK. Testing for chlamydia is done with a urine test or a swab test. You don’t always have to have a physical examination by a nurse or doctor.

District Nurses
The District Nurse is available to see you in your home and help with dressings and removal of sutures, advice and care of the acutely and chronically sick and terminally ill and advice on incontinence and supplying pads and other aids.
Health Visitors
They are available to help with health matters relating to the under-5s eg. feeding difficulties, sleep problems.
Community Midwives
The Community Midwives provide an antenatal clinic at the surgeries. The Practice shares antenatal care with the local consultant obstetricians.
Our practice is actively engaged in health promotion.
In particular we can arrange; primary prevention e.g., advice on smoking, diet & exercise and immunisations both adult and childhood; screening, e.g., blood pressure checks, cholesterol estimations, cervical smears, travel advice and vaccines etc.

Well Baby clinic
The practice works with the team of health visitors to provide child health development checks and childhood immunisations for all children under school age, allowing patients to discuss any concerns that they may have relating to a child of this age.

Antenatal clinic
If you think that you may be pregnant, please complete the patient pregnancy record form. This form should then be sent by email to the practice email address to be added to your GP records.
The practice has a full antenatal and postnatal service provided by the midwives. Your care through pregnancy and birth will be shared between the midwives, the GPs and the hospital.
Please complete the self referral request from the maternity services website available here to make your first appointment with the midwife.
The self-referral portal will be accessible to all women in Manchester via the MFT website
These are no longer available at the practice. Your GP will discuss your options during your consultation for any procedures required.
Our nurses are able to offer advice on losing weight, and to put you in touch with other local exercise groups.
