Self-harm support for parents & carers guide
This guide was developed from talking to parents and carers of young people and is aimed at helping parents, carers, other family members and friends cope when a young person is self-harming. It includes information on the nature and causes of self-harm, how to support a young person when facing this problem and what help is available.
Please make sure that your GP knows about your gender status so that we can ensure that you get the best care, and can participate in appropriate screening programmes.
Further information can be found in the 'Information for trans people' leaflet from Public Health England.
Learning Difficulties please let the surgery know if you have any learning or reading difficulties so that we can try to tailor your care.
If you have Dementia or care for someone with Dementia, please make sure that the practice is aware of this to try to ensure that you have the right support.
For further information please see our 'Health Organisations - Dementia' section.
Please let us know if you have any particular communication difficulties or need interpreting services so that we can try to get you the right support.
